History of Cumerland Co. - "History of the counties of Gloucester, Salem & Cumberland, NJ, by Thos. Cushing, MD & Charles E. Sheppard, Esq, 1883, Pg. 722

Capt. Andrew Heisler born 3/21/1795 about two miles from Bricksboro, at a place known as the Heisler farm, and lived there until 1812 or 1814, after which he moved to Heislerville, and on May 20, 1820, married Mary Tomlin. Shortly after his marriage he returned to the old homestead and began housekeeping in a single room. He only remained here a year, and subsequently bought a small house in Bricksboro. He then began to follow the water, trading between Maurice River and Philadelphia. His principal business was carrying wood from the former to the latter. When he laid up his vessel in the fall, he usually bought large tracts of timber and employed men in reducing it to cord-wood. In the spring he would run his wood into the market. He continued this operation for 40 years, after which he settled down as a farmer.
