He went by G. Radcliffe Stevens and was known as 'Rad' by his friends. He was the son of George Cushman Stevens and Rachel 'Ray' Radcliffe Stevens. He graduated from MIT Class of 1917 as an engineer. He once walked the sawdust trail to shake hands with Billy Sunday. After graduation he moved to Elgin, Illinois where he worked as president of Elgin Watch CO. He married Helen Rinehimer and had a son Albert and daughter Carolyn G. Radcliffe Stevens was an Elgin community leader. WWI Veteran
