G. WARREN ABBOTT, of Fort Wayne, passed away peacefully Sunday, Sept. 23, 2007. He was born on July 21, 1913. Born and raised in Albion, Mich., he met his wife and they graduated from Albion College in 1935. After completing his Masters, they were married Sept. 6, 1936 and moved to Midland, Mich., where he worked for the next 33 years at Dow Chemical Co. He was a member of the Dow Male Chorus, a Barber Shop Quartet, the School Board, an Elder, choir member, scout leader at Memorial Presbyterian; was active in politics, Dale Carnegie, fishing, gardening and photography. In 1969, the couple moved to Fort Wayne, where he became a Professor at Purdue University extension, a founding member of Beautiful Savior Lutheran Church where he also directed the choir and was treasurer for several years. He was also active in the local Exchange Club. His wit, wisdom and musical talents will be missed by all. Surviving are his wife of 71 years, Miriam Abbott; five children, David Abbott of Detroit, Mich., Kenneth Abbott of Clarkston, Mich., Thomas Abbott of Colorado Springs, Colo., John Abbott of Tallahassee, Fla., and BJ A. Schweitzer of San Jose, Calif.; nine grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren. Service is 1:30 p.m. Sunday at Beautiful Savior Lutheran Church, 11228 Coldwater Road, Fort Wayne, with visitation one hour prior. Visitation also from 3 to 8 p.m. Saturday at Hockemeyer & Miller Funeral Home, 6131 St. Joe Road, Fort Wayne. Burial in Covington Memorial Gardens. Preferred memorials to Alzheimer's Association, American Diabetes Association and National Federation for the Blind.
