After a gallant 11 year battle with Progressive Supranuclear Palsy, Buford "Bud" Ambrose went to his well-deserved rest on his 84th birthday, January 18, 2007.

Bud was born on January 18, 1923 in Seattle, Washington to Thomas and Myrtle Ambrose. He was raised in Upper Preston and graduated from Issaquah High School. He served in the Navy from 1942-1945 aboard the USS Saginaw Bay in the South Pacific.

On July 3, 1946 he married Shirley Moreau, of Port Orchard, Washington. They made their home in Preston where they have resided for the past 60 years. Bud retired from Pacific Northwest Bell Company in 1981 following 34 years of service. His memberships include the Telephone Pioneers Bellevue Chapter, Veterans of Foreign Wars #3436, former member of Issaquah Elks, and Issaquah Historical Society.

Bud enjoyed working with wood, cutting firewood, splitting cedar shakes, making flower boxes, bird houses, and napkin holders from driftwood from the shores of Lake Cle Elum. He took great pride in his vegetable gardens, one at home and one at their summer home on Lake Cle Elum where they spent many enjoyable days since 1965. He was an outdoor sportsman, enjoyed fishing in Canada and Alaska, hunting, golfing, hiking and watching sports. He liked to travel and especially enjoyed family gatherings. He always wore a smile and made friends wherever he went.

Survivors include his loving wife for 60 years, Shirley, of Preston; daughter Barbara Ireland, of Issaquah, sisters Kathleen Stephen, of North Bend and Dorothy Broadbooks, of Louisville, Kentucky; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by two brothers.

At his request there will be no services.

The family suggests remembrances to Northwest Parkinson's Foundation, P O Box 56, Mercer Island, WA 98040.
