Major John Robert Moore married Nancy C. Moore on 10 Jan 1805 in Northampton County, North Carolina. (Note: Nancy's maiden name was "Moore." It is possible they were cousins.)

John and Nancy, along with their three children and Nancy's father, Rev. John Moore, moved to Jones County, Georgia, in 1817. Four more children were born in Jones County.

His second wife was Mary D. Humphries "Humphreys". Mary's first husband was a man with the last name "Foard," so she is shown as Mrs. Mary D. Foard on her marriage certificate to John R. Moore on 25 Dec 1845 in Meriwether, Baldwin, Georgia. They had no children together.

His 3rd wife was Christiana Blow. They married 19 Feb 1861 in Jones County, Georgia. They had no children together. After John's death in 1869, Christiana married David P. Brown on 22 Jan 1873 in Baldwin County.
