William Robert (Bill) Rawlings was born to Kate (Atkinson) and William Rawlings (orignally from England came to Australia as a 16yo) in Rochester, Victoria, Australia. Bill was the eldest of 6 children, hes siblings are Kathleen (dec), Jack, Shirley, Edward (Ted) and Stanley (dec).
Bill would milk the family cow Daisy in the morning and take the milk to the butter factory on his way to school.
After Bill left school he went to work in a cheese factory in Stanhope before enlisting in the ARMY in 1940. He served in the Middle East and PNG. After returning home he met the Love of his life, Patricia (Pat) Jeffery in Stanhope and they were married 7th of August 1948. Bill and Pat ran a Dairy farm consisting of Jerseys and Fresians and they had 2 children, Margaret (Crozier) and Jeffery (my dad).
After health issues they left the dairy farm and moved to Melbourne in 1977 and they lived there till Bill died of a Heart Attack in 1991.
After the death of Bill, Pat moved to Euroa in 1993 and died at the age of 81 at Amaroo Nursing Home, Euroa on the 4th of January 2008.
Bill has 1 SIL Greg Crozier and 1 DIL Pauline (Chesterfield) Rawlings. He also has 7 Grandchildren Paul Crozier, Kerry (Crozier) and Mark Wilson, Mark and Daile (Hart) Crozier and Aimy Crozier. Jason and Julianne (Mallia) Rawlings, Charlene (Rawlings) and Andrew Cullen, Shane and Kate(Foster) Rawlings. 16 Great Grandchildren Sarah, Jack and Abbi Wilson. Yazmine, Shantelle, Blade (dec), Isabella Hart-Crozier, Jasper and Amelia Crozier. Zach and Cassie Rawlings. Patrick , Timothy, Ayden and Brodie Cullen and Jacob William Rawlings.
Pa would come and visit us for about 2 weeks at a time, I think Pa only came to visit was to get out of the big smoke (Melbourne). No thats not the only reason, Pa was a very Family orientated man and Loved all hes Family, as we all Loved him. Pa Loved Gardening and always had stories to tell.
My nanna described my Pa as a Good Looking Bloke and very strong minded. I thought that was really funny.
Pa's wish was to have hes ashes scattered under a tree on the farm and we granted hes wish.
