Robert Lyon and his wife, moved to Brown County in 1877 when Brownwood was not yet in existence and trading posts were far apart. In 1880, the Lyon family moved to Taylor County establishing a home in the southwest part of the county now known as the Moro community. Mr. Lyon moved his family to Buffalo Gap in 1884 where he established the Lyon Hotel. Names on the old hotel register include those of many prominent people - among them Mr. and Mrs. Dan Moody who signed the register on their wedding day. Mr. Moody later became governor of Texas.
