Francis Eugene Castle of Alta, Iowa, was given to this world by the Lord's hand on September 23, 1896, in Mapleton, Iowa and was received home again to the Lord on December 2, 1988. Francis was 92 years of age.

On Oct 21, 1924, Francis took as his wife his beloved companion of 64 years, Anna.

Francis worked most of his life in the grocery business. However, he did serve in World War I as a store keeper in the United States Navy aboard the U.S.S. Astoria, sailing near France.

Francis was a member of the Masonic Order, the American Legion and the Veterans of Foreign Wars.

Preceding him in death were his parents, two brothers and two sisters.

Survivors include his wife, Anna; his daughters, Mrs Lester (Barb) Watson of Roswell, N.M.; and Mrs Stuart (Frances) Peterson of Alta; a son Willis Castle of Yuma, AZ; a sister, Charolette Hutchinson of Pensecola, FL.; nine grandchildren, several great-grandchildren and many friends.

Services

Funeral services were held Monday, Dec 5, 1988, at 2 PM, from the Jones-Barker Funeral Home, Alta, with Dr Eugene Olstedt officiating. Organist Julia Brundeen accompanied vocalists Marie Carpenter and Muriel Pierson as they sang, "In the Garden." Attendants were Harold Gustafson, George Osborne, Lee McGinnis, Al Sievert, Ron Peterson and Jim Adams. Interment was in Woodlawn Cemetery, Alta under the direction of the Jones-Barker Funeral Home.
