Mrs. Geneva Faye (Mahoney) Barnes, age 81, of Milton, Kentucky, passed away on Thursday, January 6, 2022 at The Waters of Clifty Falls in Madison, Indiana. Born August 4, 1940 in Milton, she was the daughter of Lloyd "Poots" and Anna (McGuire) Mahoney.
Mrs. Barnes was valedictorian of her 1957 graduating class of Trimble County High School.
She was a homemaker and a member of Trimble Wesleyan Holiness Church, where she played piano and served as treasurer for fifty years and worked tirelessly for her church.
Mrs. Barnes loved to fish, work and clean. She mowed and cared for the family cemetery, Mahoney Cemetery, and was a devoted caretaker for her parents and family. She loved her grandchildren and was always ready to show photos of them. She was a fantastic cook, loved feeding people, and took great pride in feeding each and every evangelist that came to her church.
Survivors include one daughter and son-in-law: Melinda and Rodney Robbins of Greenville, Ohio; one son and daughter-in-law: Myron and Crystal Barnes of Milton; and four grandchildren: Shalah Barnes and her fiancé Jonathan Lynn; Trenton Robbins and his wife, Rebekah, Benjamin Robbins and his wife, Elizabeth, and Brantley Barnes and his wife, Emily; and one great-grandchild, Brynn Elise Robbins.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Leon R. Barnes on December 12, 2021; two brothers: Cline Mahoney and Gayle Mahoney; and two sisters: Donna Wilson and her twin, Glynnie Mahoney.
Reverend Wayne Mahoney will conduct the funeral services.
