MRS. HIGHTOWER
Funeral services for Mrs. Irma Adams Hightower, 89, of 700 N. Franklin St. will be held at 11 a.m. Monday at the chapel of the First Baptist Church with the Rev. Luther McCollister and Dr. George D. McClellan officiating. Burial will follow at Algoma Memorial Gardens Cemetery under the direction of Rains and Talley Funeral Home.
Mrs. Hightower died Saturday at Memorial Hospital following a lengthy illness.
A native of Kechie, La., she was a Harrison County resident for the past 70 years. She was the daughter of Thomas Calvin and Martha Gulley Adams, a pioneer Panola County family. She was married to Robert H. Hightower in 1908, who preceded her in death in 1970.
She was a member of the First Baptist Church and of the Lois Sunday School Class.
Survivors include one daughter, Betty Hightower of Shreveport; one son, James L. Hightower of Marshall; one sister, Lula Turner of Shreveport and several nieces.
Pallbearers will be Hendricks Hightower, Joe Pepper, Bronson Turner, Jr. Ben O. Broome, Walter Huntsberger and Fredrick Cook.
Honorary pallbearers will be Dr. Robert Palmer, Dr. Robert Koenig, Sam Wood Boone, Lawrence Hayes, Hugh McClellan, Bill Taylor, John Bruce Hyde and Floyd Anderson.
