Coyle Lane was the daughter of Malcom Worley Lane and his first wife, Hattie Jones. Hattie died in 1895. five days after giving birth to her second child Roy Lane, when Coyle was about 3 years old. Malcom Lane then married my great grandmother, Amelia Williams Wilson on February 24, 1897. It was her second marriage as well. The couple subsequently had 6 children together. Unfortunately, Malcom did not live to see the birth of the 6th child. He died in 1909. Amelia give birth to the 6th child in 1910 and about that time one son, Gilbert, passed away. For a time before Malcom's death, Coyle had lived with her grandmother Hannah Worley Lane (1905 census she was living with Hannah) in Lineville which may mean that she was a disruption in the home of her father and step-mother.
After the death of her father, the Christian Home Orphanage in Council Bluffs became Coyle's home. The Christian Home was founded in 1882 and in existence at least through the 1940's. A document form about 1910 described the facility as a place for homeless children, aged dependent women and crippled and deformed patients form anywhere in the country. Approximately 500 patients were cared for there annually and was supported totally by voluntary contributions.
