(William was known by various names in records: "William Cook", "Pierce Cook", "Sidney P. Cook" and "W.S. Cook",)
William was born 4 February 1860 in Marshall, Harrison County, Texas, never remembering his father since Abner Cook died when William was about 16 months old.
William married my g-grandmother, CLARA EUGENIA BEDDO on December 23, 1879 at the age of 19 in Marshall, Harrison County, Texas. They had three children:
1) Sidney Herbert Cook (1881-1966) - my grandfather;
2) Henry Forman Cook (1883-1955);
3) Howard Leroy Cook (1885-1951).
William was a farmer and also ran a general store called "Cook & Sons" and employed his three sons: Sidney Herbert Cook, Sr., Henry Forman Cook and Howard Leroy Cook, to work there.
My g-grandfather was known as a very kind and gentle man who treated not only his family but also his animals with the greatest of kindness. Upon his death, a one-half page tribute was posted in the Marshall Messenger in Marshall, Texas on June 16, 1926, page 3.
William died at the age of 66 on April 29, 1926. William's wife, Clara Beddo Cook-- my g-grandmother--died just 2 years later at the age of 68 in 1928. They both are buried at the Algoma Cemetery, in Marshall, Texas.
Would love to communicate with any of the descendants of this large family.
