As a family, we want to let all of you know that a giant of a man, Neldon Virgil Jolley, departed this mortal existence at the age of 86 at 1:30 pm on Tuesday, October 13, 2020. We mourn his parting, but rejoice in the blessing of knowing that the separation is only temporary. He lived honorably and left a legacy that will affect generations throughout all eternity! As a family we have felt many tender mercies amidst many tender feelings. A special thank you to our mother for who she is and all she does! We are so very blessed to have parents that have loved and blessed us so unconditionally!

Neldon was born May 11,1934, to Virgil Henry and Nelda Susie Chynoweth Jolley. He was born in a log cabin in Henrieville, Utah. He is preceded in death by his parents. He is the oldest of ten children: Marie (Ross) Barney, Harvey (AnnaRae) Jolley, Dale (Diane) Jolley, Karel (George) Hill, Ned (Angel) Jolley, Max (Connie) Jolley, Maxine (Larry) Rose, William Jolley, Monna Mae Thomas. They all played an important part of his life and they are all greatly loved by him!

As a teenager, Neldon moved with his family to Benjamin, Utah. While there, he met his sweetheart, Ruby Jean Kester. They were married November 4, 1953, in Payson, Utah. He had the privilege of baptizing his sweetheart and they were then sealed in the St. George Temple on November 4, 1955. They were blessed with five children: Christina Jean (Larry) Pay, Terry Virgil (Janette) Jolley, Kathaleen Ann (Dick) Lloyd, Angelene Rashl (Wade) Huntsman, and Felisha Janean (Kevin) Martin.

During this time, Neldon earned his Journeyman card and was employed by Utah Power and Light Company. When he retired from UP&L, he was the local agent in Enterprise, Utah, where he was loved and appreciated for his kindness and service. Many people he served are still good friends today. He was always respected for his integrity and thoughtfulness.

He is an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. It was very important to him that he fulfilled all church callings faithfully and honorably. He served in ward and stake callings in many capacities. The highlight of his service was when he and his sweetheart served a mission in the Atlanta Georgia Temple. They then served as temple workers in the St. George Temple. It was also very important to him that he always held a current temple recommend. He honored his priesthood by serving his God and his family.

If we were to summarize Neldon’s life, it would go something like this: Humbly and lovingly he spent his life unselfishly serving his family and friends. They were all his greatest joy. He enjoyed traveling, camping and playing games with friends and family. He took immaculate care of his earthly possession such as his home and cars etc. There was always gas in the car, oil changed, and tires rotated and checked. The lawns were mowed, doors were locked, and he always had a spare key! Anything good was always saved, such as nuts and bolts, because “you might need them someday”. He had what we needed to fix anything, and fix it he did. He had the answers to questions of inquisitive kids and the tender answers for the harder questions. He never missed a baby blessing, baptism or wedding, if he could help it. These are some of the ways he showed his love for his family. He loved them with all his heart. Nothing made him happier than seeing the joy of his family, or the gratitude of them helping each other through this crazy life. He loved to see and hear all of their comings and goings. With five children and their spouses, 25 grandchildren with 16 spouses, and 42 great-grandchildren, his posterity totals 93, in all.

His greatest legacy in life was his faith in his Savior and love for his Family! HE KNEW AND LOVED EACH AND EVERY ONE of them! And to quote his Grandmother Mable Jolley, “We have both QUALITY and QUANTITY”

We love you!!
