SEPTEMBER 4, 1936 – OCTOBER 14, 2020

Mary Margaret Salter Williford, age 84, passed away peacefully Wednesday, October 14, 2020 at Crestview Retirement Communities in College Station, Texas. She was a beloved wife, mother and grandmother.

She was the only child born to John Knight Salter, Jr. and his wife Wynette Maisel Roberts Salter born in Beaumont, Texas on September 4, 1936.

Mary Margaret grew up in Sour Lake, Texas. She attended Lamar University in Beaumont for a year and then married Allen Henry Williford on December 3, 1955. They then lived in College Station until Allen graduated from Texas A&M University with his industrial engineering degree in May 1958. They settled in Pasadena, Texas in 1960 where they raised their three children. They moved to Middletown, Ohio in 1984 and resided there until 1992 when they returned to Pasadena. The past 3 years she lived in College Station.

Mary Margaret was preceded in death by her husband Allen Williford in 2016.

Mary Margaret is survived by her three children Bruce Allen Williford and wife Debra of Keechi, Karen Williford Shade and husband Albert of Riverside, California and Brent Henry Williford and wife Shannon of College Station. She is also survived by her grandchildren Justin Williford, Brooke (Williford) Garcia and husband Joel, Matthew Shade and wife Nicole, Andrew Shade and wife Tori, Jacob Shade, Laura Williford, Anna Williford Pampell and husband Gabe, Jake and Tyler Williford and great grandson Caleb Allen Garcia. She is also survived by her brother-in-law Jerry Williford and wife Harolyn of Charlotte, North Carolina, her nieces Danya (Williford) Goerig and husband Edward of Houston and Kaylyn Williford of Charlotte, North Carolina. In addition, she is survived by two cousins by marriage Truett Carlton Williford and wife Glenda of Port Neches and Evelyn (Williford) James and husband Frank of Orange and great niece Adelyn Goerig.

Mary Margaret will be remembered by her family and friends as a loving Christian wife, mother, grandmother, and homemaker. She was active at South Main Baptist Church of Pasadena where she served in the Children’s ministry and handbell choir. She was active in the Parkview Estates Garden Club. She enjoyed her church, her friends, her garden, her house, traveling and spending time with family.

Mary Margaret will be greatly missed by her family and her friends from church and the community. Her legacy lives on through her children and her grandchildren to whom she imparted the love of family, the love of God and a servant’s heart.
