John was usually identified as J.T. in documents and newspapers. He and his 2nd wife, Emma, were frequently mentioned in the newspapers of Montgomery City and Mexico, Missouri during the 1880s and 1890s, mostly in the context of visiting friends and family, or having friends and family visit them. In April 1897, J.T. is mentioned selling a horse and buggy at a local auction, and there are many other tidbits about their lives to be found. However, the only mention of J.T.'s marriages that I could locate are in J.T.'s obituary, and there seem to be no Missouri marriage records.

I am including an extensive obituary which includes a lot of information and family history for Mr. McClure.
