Katheryn "Kay' Louise Syler, 101-year-old resident of Siloam Springs, Ark., died Sept. 28, 2020 at Siloam Springs Nursing and Rehab. Kay was born Feb. 18, 1919 in Siloam Springs, Ark. to R.C. Henry and Nellie Lou Mooney Henry.

Kay graduated from Siloam Springs [Ark.] High School in 1937. She married George Webb Syler on July 13, 1940. Kay's family owned and operated R.C. Henry's Hardware in downtown Siloam Springs, and the whole family worked there, including Kay's husband, George.

Kay's favorite role was being a wife and homemaker. She also served in the PTA, as a Cub Scout leader, as a member of the Siloam Springs Garden Club, and as a lifetime member of Primavera Garden Club where she participated in the beautification of her hometown. She was a longtime member of First Baptist Church in Siloam Springs, and was an avid golfer. Kay always had pets; many friends said they were the luckiest animals on earth.
