Kay graduated from Siloam Springs [Ark.] High School in 1937. She married George Webb Syler on July 13, 1940. Kay's family owned and operated R.C. Henry's Hardware in downtown Siloam Springs, and the whole family worked there, including Kay's husband, George.
Kay's favorite role was being a wife and homemaker. She also served in the PTA, as a Cub Scout leader, as a member of the Siloam Springs Garden Club, and as a lifetime member of Primavera Garden Club where she participated in the beautification of her hometown. She was a longtime member of First Baptist Church in Siloam Springs, and was an avid golfer. Kay always had pets; many friends said they were the luckiest animals on earth.
Kay was preceded in death by her husband, parents, and siblings Bill, Robert, and Ralph Henry, and Lucille Ingersoll. She is survived by sons Scott (Ginger) of Beggs, Okla. and Dr. Ron (Vonda) of Siloam Springs, Ark., granddaughters Erica Syler of Fayetteville, Ark., Sheri Tooman and Karen Shields, both of Purcell, Okla., and Lara Denning of Des Moines, Iowa, and eight great-granddaughters.
