He was born Sept. 20, 1922, in Carmi, Ill., son of the late David E. and Rosetta (May) Rhein.
Mr. Rhein worked in the oil fields and was a gas driller for 25 years. He was a retired fireman.
He was a member of the First Church of Nazarene.
He was preceded in death by a daughter, Shirley J. Duff; four brothers, Earl, Irvan, Henry and Robert Rhein; and two sisters, Katie Jordan and Mary Fundenberger.
Mr. Rhein leaves his wife, Eunice Carolyn (Morrill) Rhein, whom he married March 16, 1941; a sister, Susan McConnell of Indianapolis, Ind.; a brother, David "Eddie" E. (Mary) Jordan of Carmi, Ill.; seven grandchildren, Robert Duff, Elizabeth Duff, Bryant Duff, Dana Duff, Dawna McCance, Ryan Duff and Amanda Duff; and eight great-grandchildren.
Services were held at Bundy Law Funeral Home. Rev. Joe Pearce officiated.
