Judge George Washington Brewer died when he was taken prisoner by invading Union soldiers in December of 1864 .

(1) 1st Lt. James Jefferson BREWER C.S.A. (who entered service as a 2nd Lieutenant on 7 Sep 1861 at Savannah, and was promoted to 1st Lieutenant 20 May 1862. The muster roll for Nov - Dec 1862, the last on file, lists him as present. He was living in Burke County in 1911),
(2) 1st Sergeant, later Judge, Harlan Perry BREWER C.S.A. (born 1838, a notary public in Effingham County before moving, who died 1921 and was buried in Ware County), the husband of Adelaide Harriet KELLEY, "Addie," of Louisville,
(3) Joannah BREWER LINVILLE (died between 1870 and 1877),
(4) Florence E. BREWER (1843-1926, a widowed resident of Savannah, she died in Orlando, Orange County, Florida), the second wife of William Dyson HAMILTON,
(5) Private Joseph F. BREWER C.S.A. (died after 1865),
(6) Private Robert H. BREWER C.S.A.,
(7) Mary Eloise BREWER LINVILLE (died after 1900),
(8) Virginia BREWER FINN (died after 1877),
(9) Sarah A. BREWER SMITH (died after 1884),
(10) William George BREWER (settled in Savannah, died after 1904), husband of Effie BOYD.
