Horatio D. Allen, a former resident of Conway, died at Rochester, March 14. He resided between Conway and Conway Center for several years and was one of our most highly respected citizens. He leaves a widow and one daughter, Mrs. John Whitaker, of this town and several grandchildren. He was 75 years of age. he was a veteran of the Civil War having served nearly four years in Co. A, 23 Regt. Mass. Vol. He took part in several engagements and was wounded in the Battle of Roanoke. He was a member of Custer Post and a past commander. His remains will be brought to Conway and buried by Custer Post.
