Marvin was born November 29, 1943, on the highway by Box Elder Creek, North of Rapid City. He was the fourth son of Hans and Ruth (Johnson) Jensen. He grew up in New Underwood and graduated from New Underwood High School in 1962.
Marvin married Carol Miller of Oakes, ND, on September 9, 1970. They lived in Rapid City for one year prior to making their home in New Underwood for the past 33 years. At the center of Marvins life were his wife, Carol, daughter, Rebecca, son, Paul, three grandchildren, and their family and friends.
Marvin was a carpenter for a total of 35 years. He worked for his brother Herbert. He owned and operated his own business, Jensen Acoustical Tile. Marvin retired in 1997 due to health reasons. He loved to go camping and fishing. He loved to garden and decorate for the Christmas season. Marvin was very creative with wood, and made his family cherished wood furniture. Marvins second home was the New Underwood Fire Dept. He was the assistant fire chief for 32 years. He donated lots of time and knowledge. He was a member of the New Underwood Ambulance for 20 years, and helped to build the New Underwood ball fields. His family and friends will remember him for his wonderful sense of humor and his laugh.
Survivors include his wife, Carol, of New Underwood, one son, Paul Jensen of Fort Collins, CO, daughters, Rebecca (Doug) Kenoyer of Rapid City and Shelly Bartschi of Denver CO, grandchildren, Jensen, Samuel and Dawson Kenoyer of Rapid City, and Tyler Bartschi of Denver, CO, two brothers, Harold (Janice) and Donald (Janice) Jensen, of New Underwood, one sister, LuAnn (Richard) OConnell of Peoria, AZ; a half-sister, Florence Feterl of Lead, SD and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, one brother, Herbert, and one half-brother, Harold John Jensen.
Visitation will be held at Kirk Funeral Home in Rapid City on Friday, March 11, 2005 from 5:00 - 6:30pm with a prayer service at 6:30pm.
Services will be held on Saturday, March 12 at 10:30am at the New Underwood High School Gym, with Dr. Ted Huffman officaiting. Burial will follow at the New Underwood Cemetery.
