Nicomedez Ilaria Alvarez, best known as Nico to her family and friends, passed away peacefully at home on September 14th. Nico was born in McNary, Arizona on June 29, 1935 and lived in the downtown Phoenix area since 1943. She attended grammar school at Robert Lewis Stevenson and High School at Phoenix Union. Nico retired in 1997 as a Maricopa County Justice Court Clerk. She enjoyed movies, music, dancing, camping, casino hopping, antique shopping and never saw a yard sale worth passing up. Nico is preceded in death by her mother Angelita (1991) her father Frank Alvarez Sr. (2002) and youngest brother Luciano (2005). She is survived by sisters Josefina Espinoza, Amelia Gutierrez and Brothers Ricardo and Frank Alvarez Jr., four children: Victor Roman Jr. (Ellie), Stacy Ann Roman, Mary Helen Rivas (Ray) Richard Salcido (Lola). Eleven grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. Nico will be missed most for her sense of humor and infectious laugh, may the angels enjoy you as much as we did. Visitation will be at Greenwood Memory Lawn 719 N. 27th Ave. in Phoenix on Thursday September 20, 2007 5:00-8:00 a.m. with Rosary at 6:30 p.m. Funeral Service will be held at Immaculate Heart of Mary Church 909 E. Washington St. in Phoenix on Friday September 21, 2007 10:00 a.m.
