Tommy was the son of Robert Hardeman and Beatrice Brown. He was educated in the Crisp County School System and attended A. S. Clark High School in Cordele, Georgia. He enjoyed fishing and cooking and took great pride in his appearance. He was also known to be a hard worker. He joined Gethsemane Missionary Baptist Church in Cordele, Georgia at a young age. He later attended the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses.

He was married to Ira B. Harris Brown. He was preceded in death by 2 sisters, Wanda Lewis and Elizabeth Brown, 1 brother, David Clark, maternal grandfather, Andrew Brown Sr, maternal grandmother, Calvina Brown, 5 aunts, Ruby Butler, Ella Mae Paul, Willie Williams, Yvonnia Brown and Leona Wiggins and 3 uncles, Andrew Brown Jr, Jessie Brown and Robert Ford.

Wife: Ira B. Brown.
3 Daughters: Michelle Smith, Keisha Gaines and Sonya Gaines.
4 Sons: Tommy Lee Brown Jr, Nekita Harris, Freddie B. McCloud and Fredrick McCloud.
3 Sisters: Alice Lester(Archie), Gale Beal(Alvin) and Lovetta Corbin.
2 Brothers: Ashley Clark(Monica) and Roosevelt Brown.
4 Aunts: Alberta Troutman, Barbara Mitchell(Freddie), Maggie Bell Brown and Rose Brown.
4 Brothers-In-Law: Lonnie Walker(Barbara), Rev Nekita Lester(Eddie Mae), Johnnie Lester and David Lester(Renee).

Graveside services were held Friday, October 9, 2020 at 12PM in the Bethel Cemetery in Cordele, Georgia with Brother James Wise officiating.
