Ted was born in Chandler, Lincoln Co., OK. to Lonnie Oscar Phillips, and Florence Belle Austin. Other children in the family were Irvin, Bennie, Robert, Nina, Verna and Edith. When he was about 13 years old, his family moved to Lovington, Lea Co., New Mexico where his father ranched for many years. Ted was a veteran of WWII having served in the Army Air Corp. On Feb. 2, 1945 he married Veradene "Dena" Earp in Tulsa, OK. They had two sons: Bob Curtis Phillips and Teddy Winfred Phillips. Ted and Dena lived most of their life in Lea Co., New Mexico where Ted was a rancher. Around 1986 they returned to Chandler and lived there the rest of their lives. At the time of his death, Ted was living in the State Veterans Home in Sulphur, Murray Co., OK
