January 1995 — Passage. Eliza (Lyda) Harrison Van Leuven, age 98, died January 26, 1995 at her home in West Valley City, Utah.

She was born April 26, 1896 in Gainsborough, Lincolnshire, England, the daughter of John and Elizabeth Hill Harrison. She married Zera Dee Van Leuven on March 22, 1916 in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. He died February 2, 1922.Lyda was a teacher in many of the LDS Church organizations. She also taught in the Provo City School District for 37 years and was a member of PEA, NEA, UEA, ULA, and a charter member of AAUW.

She is survived by her daughter, Thora V. Pace and son-in-law, Clarence Pace of West Valley City, Utah; grandchildren: Janet and Wayne Alder of Grace, Idaho; Karen and Roger Ching, of Mililani, Hawaii; Jerry and Barbara Pace of Colorado Springs, Colorado; Lonny and Carolyn Pace of West Jordan, Utah; Roger and Diane Pace of Santee, Calif.; 26 great-grandchildren, and 13 great great-grandchildren. She raised three of her brother's children: Joyce Condie of St. George, Ut.; Mary Larsen of Salt Lake City; and Hilda Crookston of Washington, Utah.

Funeral services will be held Tuesday, January 31, 1995 at 11:00 a.m. at Sundberg-Olpin Mortuary, 495 S. State St., Orem, where friends may call Monday, 6:30-8:00 p.m. and Tuesday, one hour prior to the services.
