Mrs. Laura Young Dies on Monday. Long time resident of the county passes away: Funeral held Saturday afternoon. Mrs. Laura E. Young, long time resident of Morrill Co., passed away on Monday afternoon at her home in Northport. A highly respected member of the community, she leaves a host of friends to mourn her loss. Funeral services will be held on Sat. at 1:30 P.M. at the home in Northport; burial will be in Forest Lawn cemetery; Her obituary is as follows: Laura E. Young was born in Bloomington, Ohio, Sept. 9, 1853 [1854]. She joined the Methodist church at the age of 17. United in marriage to Dr. Charles E. Young of Chicago in April 1872, to this union was born seven children, four daughters and three sons. After the death of her husband and two sons, she and the rest of her children moved to Nebraska, filed on a homestead where part of Northport is now located and she remained there until the time of her decease. During the early part of her life here she devoted much of her time to the sick and needy. In rendering this service she endured many hardships, due to the inconvenient means of transportation and road facilities of the pioneer days. She was called upon many times to ford the river at late hours of the night and during severe storms but she gave her time freely and willingly never refusing to go when someone was in need. She was a woman of good character and high ideals, always honest and honorable in all her business transactions thereby winning the love and respect of all those who knew her. In June 1930 (Elizabeth) Mrs. A. H. Smith the eldest daughter passed away. Surviving her are three daughters; Mrs. W. H. Willis of Bridgeport, Mrs. G. E. Melvin of Huntington Park, Calif., and Mrs. Susan Hutton of Northport, one son Jesse F. Young of Northport, who were all with her at the time of her passing away April 22, 1935 at the age of 81 years 7 months and 13 days. Other survivors are two sisters, Mrs. Charles Logan of Bridgeport, Mrs. Susan Bisby of Houston, Texas, a brother William Sesslar of Chicago, Ill., five grandchildren and two great grandchildren.
