Elbert, 85, of Leslie, Michigan, crossed the Jordan to be home with the Lord on September 27, 2020 in the care of Henry Ford Allegiance Hospice Home surrounded by family. One of 6 children, Gene was born to Elbert B. and Eugenia King.

He proudly served his country in the US Army in the early 1950s. After several years working in the electrical field, he established Leslie Appliance Service and was the owner and operator for over 30 years until his retirement. During his retirement, Gene expressed his creative and inventive mind with his decorative windmill creations using upcycled materials. He was a hard worker and was always active. Gene will be fondly remembered by his family, friends, and customers as being generous and loving.

Gene is preceded in death by his parents, Elbert Bloomer and Eugenia Mae King.

He is survived by his loving wife of 67 years, Joyce King; children: Bill (Teresa) King, Richard (Judy) King, Mark (Debbie) King and Valarie (Kenneth) (King) Miller; 7 grandchildren; and 2 great-grandchildren.

A graveside visitation and service will be held on Wednesday, September 30, 2020 at Woodlawn Cemetery in Leslie, Michigan with Pastor Rod Walker officiating.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be directed to HFA Hospice Home, Jackson, MI.
