Her parents, George E. Bishop(1838-1919) & Martha Ann Frampton Bishop(1847-1945)were from Kent, England & were married in Canterbury in May, 1871,shortly before sailing for Boston(arriving on 7/3/1871).
After a brief stay in Canada, George, wishing to push on into the "West," talked Martha into traveling by rail to Missouri and to Kearney, where they made their home.
George was a grocer/butcher & farmer. They had nine children, five of whom grew to adulthood.
Ellen married Walter Rhodus in 1898 & together they raised two children, Florence "Naydene" & Clarence.
Ellen was a devoted member of the OES.
