John Franklin Rossean, son of Samuel T. Rossean and Luraney (Watts) Rossean was born November 9, 1872 in Madison township, three miles east of Hamburg, Iowa and passed away Thursday, March 23, 1950 at the age of 77 years, 4 months and 17 days. He was married to Iola Florence Dovel on December 23, 1895. To this home came four children, Ora A.; Arnold R.; Mrs. Hawley (Eula) Kerr, and Mrs. Harry (Naomi) Goff. Along with his companion and children he leaves granddaughters Kathy Lou and Kolleen Kerr, Lorraine Rossean and Joy Ann Goff. He was a member of a family of nine children and had spent his entire life in this area. Of this family in pioneer days, he leaves one brother, Samuel T., of Kansas City and one sister, Mrs. George (Nancy Catherine) Woolcot of Creston, Iowa.
He was known as a loving father and husband, a man of integrity and much of his life was devoted in the service of others. He loyally supported worthwhile projects in his community, serving several years of leadership for the local school, township and the farm bureau. He counted his friends among the high and low, meeting all on common ground. He has been associated with his sons in farming and raising of livestock which he shipped to all parts of the country. His code of life was based on friendship, integrity and service to others. His reward was a long and full life and he will be missed by the family and friends. Funeral services were held on Saturday March 25, at the Johnson Funeral Hme, with the Rev. C. E. Kingsley in charge. Interment in the Mt. Zion Cemetery.
