Alice was married to Robert Hines in 1904. He died in 1909 from an appendicitis at the age of 30. Alice was deeply saddened by his loss and had three very young children to raise alone. Before Robert died he asked Alice not to remarry a man who drank alcohol. He did not want his children raised by a man who drank. In 1917 she married Ellis Horton on the condition that she be buried with her first husband should she pass away before Ellis did. They had no children together, and Ellis died in 1940. Alice died in 1966 and was laid to rest beside her beloved Robert.
