Barbara Elaine Blakey Kelley passed away on September 22, 2020 at her home in Carlisle, Iowa surrounded by family. A visitation will be held Friday, September 25, 2020 from 5-7pm at Peterson Funeral Home in Carlisle. Funeral services will take place Saturday, September 26 at 11:00am at Corydon United Methodist Church in Corydon, Iowa. The family will be present at 10:00am prior to the service. Interment will take place at Corydon Cemetery.
She was born September 7, 1927 in New York, Iowa to Guy and Linnea Anderson Blakey. She was a graduate of the Corydon High School and was united in marriage with William (Bud) Kelley on March 10, 1946 in Corydon.
Barbara had several jobs in her working years but the one she enjoyed most was as a Home Health Aid in Wayne Co. She later was a longtime volunteer aid for Hospice of Central Iowa in Corydon and Carlisle.
Barbara was a member of the Corydon United Church and later attending in Carlisle. She was very active with the United Methodist Women. She was a long time member of Beta Sigma Phi Sorority, the Wayne County Genealogical Society, American Legion Auxiliary, and Wayne County Historical Society and volunteered at the Prairie Trails Museum.
Barbara is survived by her daughter Kathy Mees of Grain Valley, MO., Granddaughter Chelsea Buhrman and Great-grandson Robbie of Omaha, NE., Granddaughter Kristina Mees of Grain Valley, MO.; Son William (Bill) Kelley (Kelley) of Carlisle, Granddaughter Lauren Friedrichs (Kristen) of West Des Moines Grandson Grant Kelley (Danielle Merideth) and Great-Grandson August Kelley of Des Moines. Her Sister-in-Law Verna Blakey of Corydon and family, Sister-in-Law Verneva Roe (Rea) of Waukee and family, Sister-in-Law Madolyn Kelley of Belmond and family.
Barbara was preceded in death by her parents, husband Bud, Brother Ernest Blakey and Son-in-Law Bob Mees
In lieu of flowers memorials may be given to the Corydon or Carlisle United Methodist Churches, Prairie Trails Museum in Corydon or Every Step Hospice in Des Moines
