Daughter of William Allen Mitchell and Nancy Jane Price Mitchell

From her obituary:
Mrs. M.E.V. Hines, widow of the late William H. Hines, passed away Monday August 5, 1935 at her home after a long illness of the malignant nature. She was 81 years old and an outstanding woman in her community.
She professed her faith in Christ at the age of seventeen and her whole life was affected by that step. At the age of 22 years she was wedded to Mr. William Hines, also a devout Christina, and was never happier than when serving her church and community and promoting the welfare of all with whom she came in contact.
She was the mother of the following children:
Clarence Franklin Hines
Mary Jennie Hines Tavis
James Madison Hines
Edwin Fletcher Hines
Robert William Hines
Bettie Sue Hines Coltrane

Her home was ever open to her pastor and others and among her last acts were the preparation of her home for the entertainment of delegates to the Mount Airy, NC District Conference (United Methodist Church), and a sacrificial gift to the Children's Home in Winston-Salem.
