Mr. Canada was born in Howe, Texas. He grew up in Clyde, Texas. He graduated from Baird High School. After marriage in 1945, he lived in Abilene, Texas. He and his family moved to Alabama after several years. He retired from Robbin's Tire and Rubber Plant. He was a member of Woodward Avenue Baptist Church. He was a veteran of the U.S. Marine Corps, having served during World War II.

He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Artie Hovater Canada; daughters, Yvonne Canada and Mona Canada Keister and husband, David Sr.; sister, Laverne Comer; grandsons, Kenneth, Kevin and David II Keister and wife, Ashleigh; great-grandsons, David III and Bryan Keister.

"S.E. Canada, was home visiting his parents, after serving four and one-half years in the Pacific. He entered service May 9, 1941, in the Marines, and was in Hawaai, Midway Island, Solomon, New Hebrides, Marshall and Sosebe, Japan, and returned to U.S. Oct. 22." He was decorated with all the Battle Ribons, and Presidential Merit Citation.
