William Powers, 92, Campbell County Democratic Committeeman, died Thursday at Speers Hospital, Dayton, Ky. Powers, a retired T/Sgt. in the U.S. Army, lived at 352 E. Second St., Newport. He retired from the army in 1928 after completing 30 years, with service in three wars; Spanish-American, World War I and the Mexican-Indian War. He was a member of the James Wallace Costigan American Legion Post in Newport. He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Marie Gaylord Powers; a daughter, Mrs. Maxine Hood, New Burlington, Ohio; a grand-daughter and two great-grandchildren. Prayers will be at 8:30 a.m. Monday at the Vonderhaar and Stetter Funeral Home, Newport. Services will be at 9: a.m. at the Immaculate Conception Church, Newport. Visitation, 3 to 9 p.m. Sunday.
