"James Haigood Died Following Illness, Was Beckham County Resident for Twenty Years"

"James O. Haigood, 75, died at the home of his daughter, Mrs. John Bruner 14 miles northwest of Sayre Monday night after an illness of several months.

Haigood moved to Beckham County more than 25 years ago. He leaves to mourn his death, two sons, Gordis Haigood of Cheyenne and Walter Haigood of Dalhart, Texas and three daughters, Mrs. Lela Butler and Mrs. Beulah Bruner of Mayfield and Mrs. Della Brady of Dalhart, Texas.

Funeral services were held at the Buffalo Church Tuesday September 30, 1030 at 3:30 o'clock with Rev. Roberts of the First Baptist Church of Erick, officiating. Interment was made int he Buffalo cemetery.

Littrell Moore funeral directors were in charge."

Sayre, Oklahoma Paper October 7, 1930

"Brother J. O. Haigood was born in the state of Alabama, April 17, 1855, and departed this life at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Beulah Bruner, on September 29, 1930. At the time of his death he was 75 years 5 months and 12 days of age.

He leaves to mourn his departure two sons, Gordis Haigood of Cheyenne, Oklahoma; and Walter Haigood of Dalhart, Texas; Mrs. Lelia Butler and Mrs. Beulah Bruner of Mayfield, Oklahoma. One sister, Mrs. Betty Higgins of America, Oklahoma also survives.

He was converted and joined the Missionary Baptist Church when he was a youth, and was a consistent member of that church until death took him to heaven. Just before the last moment came he said, "I'm Trusting in the Lord."

The funeral services were held at Buffalo Baptist Church, Rev. W. A. Roberts, pastor First Baptist Church of Erick, officiating. Burial was in the Sanders cemetery near Buffalo Church."
