Marguerita H. Gurnsey, 87, of Luther Park Health Care Center, 1555 Hull Ave., died there on Monday of complications following a stroke. Services at Grace Lutheran church, burial in the Albion Cemetery.
Mrs. Gurnsey was born in Marshalltown [NOTE: other sources indicate Albion] and had moved to Des Moines in 1935. She retired as a secretary with the state health department. She was a member of the Lutheran Church and a board member of Fair Housing for the Handicapped.
Survivors include four daughters, Jane Connett of Des Moines, Virginia Neades of Council Bluffs, Patricia Siedelmann of Omaha, and Sharon Smith of Grapevine, Texas; six sons, Dean of Bethesda, Maryland, Allan of Houston, Lynn of Phoenix, Arizona, Jon of New Prague, Minnesota, and Dennis and Donald, both of Des Moines; grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
