Jewel Camley Locke(according to family, she never liked her middle name)was the 11th child born to Jesse R. Locke and wife, Alice Jane Johnson. Jewel was born Apr 26, 1903 in Canton , TX. In 1906, she moved with her parents to the Porch Community. Jewel married Virgil Curtis Ford, Aug. 14, 1921, in Beckham County Oklahoma. He preceded her in death in 1965. They lived at Carter, Elk City, and moved to Sayre, OK in 1944. In 1972, Jewell lived with her daughter and the last ten months of her life in Warren, Ohio. She attended Grace Methodist Church while in Ohio.

Jewel Ford,age 76,died March 18 in the Trumbull Memorial Hospital in Warren, Ohio, after an extended illness. A memorial service was held March 24 in the chapel of the Rose Chapel Funeral Service.She is buried in the Buffalo Cemetery, Oklahoma.

She was preceeded in death by her parents, her husband, and one son, Melvin T. Ford, who was killed May 9, 1944, in World War II. She was survived by 3 daughters; Mariam, Delora,and Carolyn; 4 grandchildren,2 great grandchildren; a brother Sam , and sisters Erdice and Mildred.
