Moments of Fellowship
Dennis Roy Doom
5-19-1947 – 9-19-2020

Dennis was a dedicated family man who was always there for his family.

We all had moments with Dennis – moments of friendship, love, success and struggle. These current moments of sadness will come and go while we remember a humble man with great character. He was always there to console us through our tribulations and to celebrate our victories when we had them. The way Dennis gave his love to us will be the very love that heals us. Dennis was a quiet man, but when he spoke, people listened.

The moments of Dennis' life started on May 19, 1947. He was born in Phoenix, AZ to parents Sam and Esther Doom. Dennis grew up in Congress, AZ with his siblings Daniel, Samuel, Donald, Lottie and Robert. This is where their family ran and operated a Standard Station for folks passing through. Small places like Congress and Aguila raise families together. Kids will make friendships inside Wickenburg schools which become indelible moments to come.

Dennis was a likable guy. He mingled well with others. He was popular in high school and met the most beautiful girl in the world, Cheryll Bodiroga. This moment will make history. The Dooms made an impact at Wickenburg High School, playing football, keeping grades up and making lifelong friendships. Dennis graduated in the class of 1965 with his high school sweetheart Cheryll.

Dennis went on to Phoenix College working at a Standard Station paying his way through school. Dennis and his friend Ted Lopez rented a house in Phoenix and did the everyday things you would do at this age with the friends who still surrounded them from childhood. The war called, Ted joined the Air Force and Dennis transferred over to ASU for a degree in accounting. Ted later would become Dennis' brother-in-law by marrying his sister Lottie Doom, but that's another story.

Dennis asked Cheryll to marry him. She said YES! They married on May 28th, 1971 in the town where they first fell in love out Wickenburg way. Cheryll's sister Sharla Bodiroga was the Maid of Honor and Ted was Dennis' Best Man. Cheryll's hair and makeup were done to perfection. The dress was hand made by her mother Dolley. Dennis stood at the altar, the richest man in the room. Here came his bride. God blessed this husband and wife throughout their entire marriage. The day was celebrated with family and friends, friendships and connections that would remain life long. What a Beautiful Day!

Twins! Dennis became a dad to two boys, Brandon and Carson. He raised these boys into becoming loving fathers themselves. Cheryll and Dennis actively spent time with their friends and family while raising the boys ~ making friendships and moments with grandparents, cousins, aunts, uncles and neighbors. Vacations, gatherings, holidays and summers at Dennis and Cheryll's created memories still talked about today.

Dennis' success didn't stop there. He started Active Mobility, a family retail business and provided jobs and career paths with Brother Donald Doom and Lottie's children. His sons – Carson and Brandon, nephews – Donnie and Jonathan Lopez and niece – Milke Doom-Mendoza shared moments with Dennis and Cheryll's business for twenty four years. Some would work there the entire time and some for just a section of their own career paths. Active Mobility's success was because of the family bonds that Dennis and Cheryll maintained in all of their lives. These moments have lots of good memories with Dennis to celebrate.

Brandon and his wife Jackie made Dennis and Cheryll grandparents with Chase, Ryan and Amber. Carson and Cindy were still dating. Cheryll hosted many family gatherings in their home to create moments that brought everyone together. Cheryll became sick with cancer during these moments and hearts began to break. Dennis loved and protected his wife during these days with unconditional love. Their love-at-first-sight shared from the first day they met at age fourteen carried them through. Cheryll's last moments with us broke Dennis' heart.

In 2008, Dennis with his heart broken from Cheryll's passing decided to take a Spanish class at Maricopa Community College. He and Cissy (Cecelia Plantek) met in class. Without knowing it at the time, broken hearts would be put together and slowly heal to love as one. For eleven years Dennis and Cissy would live his retired life in the Prescott house. Dennis often posted pictures of how beautiful it was there, Cissy by his side holding hands. Dennis would have his final moments with us. These last moments leave us with wounds that can only be healed by the enduring love Dennis put in our hearts to be shared with others.

I was told once there is no wrong way to talk to God, but there is a right way. That's through Jesus Christ our Lord and Savior. He who loves Him will live in us and love us too. Dennis loved just this way.

We will love you every day Papa Doom, grandchildren Elizabeth, Matthew, Charli and me, your daughter in Christ and marriage to your son Carson. I have peace with you. Thank you for your unconditional love.

His beautiful life rises to the heavens above, holding hands with wife Cheryll, reunited by true love. Dennis and Cheryll walk the path of "Eternal Life Together."

Jude 1:21 "Keep yourselves in God's love as you wait for the Mercy of our Lord Jesus Christ to bring you to eternal life."

Dennis was the most amazing Business Man that I have ever known! Dennis moved to Phoenix after graduation and put himself thru college. Cheryll also relocated to Phoenix and went to Durham Business college and worked for Valley National Bank.

Dennis & Cheryll met in high school and were married May 28, 1971 for 35 years. Together for 40 years. Cheryll became a Catholic to be able to marry Dennis in the Catholic Church. Mom made Cheryll's wedding dress and veil which was the most beautiful dress I had ever seen.

Dennis had a very good job for many years & decided to go into a business for himself. They purchased their business on 04/25/1994 located on 2035 W. Glendale Avenue and named it Active Mobility and grew it to three locations. Last location was the largest they had. Cheryll worked there during her cancer treatments to teach Dennis & I think Don Doom how to do everything she had been doing for years. Very successful! They felt really good about their business because they were able to help so many people.

All of their homes were out of this world beautiful! They decorated them together and did all the work purchasing and arranging every detail in their new homes. They were all so very beautiful & inviting while reflecting Dennis and Cheryll's taste.

Dennis & Cheryll's love for each other was tremendous and they always supported each other thru everything. They worked together in their businesses and loved each other's families & friends. Very successful in everything they did together.

Cheryll accepted Jesus as her personal Lord and Savior before the twins were born and led Lottie to accept Jesus. Their miracle twins arrived on August 12, 1975 ~ Brandon came first & then Carson. The Doctor was so excited he just charged for one birth. Their small family was complete.

Brandon & Carson grew up in a loving stable family. When they started school they went to Grace Christian Academy where Dennis did the accounting for the Church. They loved to play soccer and were very good!!

Highlights in Cheryll & Dennis' lives were when they welcomed their grand babies. Brandon & Jackie blessed them with 3 grandchildren, Chase, Ryan and Amber. They loved being grandparents.

Cheryll did tell Dennis & me if she does not make it thru the cancer she wants Dennis to find someone to share his life with.

Carson & Cindy married after Cheryll died and have 3 children Charli, Elizabeth & Matthew. Grandpa Dennis was blessed again with more grandchildren & Cheryll would be so very proud of all of them.

Dennis has gone home to be with Jesus and is reunited with the love of his life Cheryll, his parents Sam & Esther, Brothers Sam & Daniel and sister Lottie and many other family members and friends. What a glorious reunion for all of them.

Bodiroga & Penrod side of family: Dennis, you touched all of my family more than you can imagine ~ Grandpa Mart Penrod family, Dolley & Obren, Dot & Obie, Holly, Brian & Chris, Myself, Michael & Shawna, Mark & Shawna, Zach, Marquee, Seth, Abby & Alex and many more. You will never be forgotten.

Thank you for your love and all our precious memories ~ Love, Sharla
