OAKBORO -- Roy Lee Barbee, 79, died Saturday, March 2, 2002. Born June 27, 1922 in Stanly County, NC, he was the son of the late Lula Belle Eudy Barbee and James Carlo Barbee. He was a retired weaver after 45 years of service at Cannon Mills. He was a veteran of the US Army.
The funeral service will be 2 p.m. Tuesday, March 5, 2002 at Meadow Creek Primitive Baptist Church with Elder Newell Helms officiating. Burial will be in Meadow Creek Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery in Locus, NC. Visitation is from 7-9 p.m. Monday at Hartsell Funeral Home-Midland. DAV military rites at graveside.
He was a member of Meadow Creek Primitive Baptist Church.
Survivors are wife, Virginia H. Barbee of the home; son and his wife, Curtis Lee and Anita Barbee of Oakboro, NC; brothers, B.J. Barbee of Concord, NC, Charlie Barbee of Locust, NC; sisters, Myrtle Tucker of Locust, NC and Margie Thomas of Tucker, GA; granddaughter, Kristen Barbee and Emily Barbee; step-grandchildren, Stuart Nicholes, Stephanie Nicholes, and Stacy Nicholes.
He was preceded in death by a brother, Tommy Barbee.
The family will meet at the home of his son Curtis Barbee 16026 hwy 24/27, Oakboro, NC.
