CUYAHOGA FALLS -- Clara Mae Bittinger, 95, passed way March 18, 2010 in Sun Lakes, Arizona.

Clara Mae was born August 22, 1914 in Loop, Pennsylvania. She attended Grove City College in Pennsylvania and received her Bachelor of Science and Master's Degree Magna Cum Laude from Kent State University. Clara Mae taught Second Grade at Richardson School in Cuyahoga Falls for over 25 years. She had resided in Cuyahoga Falls, Ohio for 60 years prior to relocating to Sun Lakes, Arizona. She was a member of the Cuyahoga Falls Women's Club; DAR; NEA; AAUW; The United Presbyterian Church of Cuyahoga Falls, and was a lifetime member of the Kent State University Alumni.

Preceded in death by her husband of 68 years, Clinton E. Bittinger, she is survived by her sons, Lt. Col. (Ret.) Robert C. Bittinger (Patricia) of Gainesville, Georgia and John B. ''Jack' Bittinger (Janet) of Sun Lakes, Arizona: grandchildren, Colleen Bittinger, Dawn Manning, Ken Bittinger, Debra Lang and Douglas Bittinger; great-grandchildren, Daniel, Kaitlin, Alyssa, Amanda, Austin, and Kyle; sister, Jane Kimpel; and daughter-in-law, Geraldine Taylor.

A Funeral Service will be conducted at 1 p.m. Saturday, April 3rd in the Clifford-Shoemaker Funeral Home, 1930 Front St., Cuyahoga Falls, Rev. J. Ross Slaughter officiating. Friends may call from 11 a.m. until the time of service. Interment at Rose Hill Burial Park. In lieu of other remembrances, the family requests donations to Hospice of the Valley, 1510 E. Flower Street, Phoenix, AZ 85014 or Small Dog Rescue, P.O. Box 888570, Atlanta, GA 30356 in her memory. Clara was a staunch supporter of Small Dog Rescue being a two time adopter.
