Obituary

Elton Cheney, orphaned boy of Mr. and Mrs. Peter Larson, passed away at the hospital at Hot Springs at eight o’clock Saturday night, March 25th, 1916, at the age of twenty-one years.
He was operated on for appendicitis March 21st, and later pneumonia set in. He was buried at Crawford, Neb., beside his brother Rufus, who passed away two years ago, of appendicitis.
We sometimes wonder, does it pay to bring up orphans? In his last letter to Mrs. Allen Loucks, after his operation, he said: “I was naked and ye clothed me, a stranger and ye took me in.”
Elton was loved by all who knew him. He has written many kind letters to his foster mother saying he should never forget the good home they gave him.
The same evening he died he sent for his sister and kissed her good-bye.
