Iona Mae Bowen was born September 5, 1930, in Kiowa, Oklahoma, to Etheridge Lee and Allie Mae Raiburn. Iona passed from this life Wednesday evening, April 13, 2005, at her home, at the age of seventy-five. She and William Bowen were married February 17, 1950, in Clovis, New Mexico. Iona was a typesetter for Taylor Publishing Company in Dallas, Texas. She was a member of the Eastern Star Chapter in Kiowa, and member of the Kiowa Baptist Church.

Survivors include her husband, William, of the home; one son, Bill Bowen, and wife Terri, of Flint, TX; one daughter, Marilyn Bowen of Wardville, OK; four brothers, Gary Lynn Raiburn, Larry Dale Raiburn, Bobby Gene Raiburn and Glenn Raiburn; one sister, Erma Lee (Raiburn) McGill; five grandchildren, Becky Gee, Kevin Bowen, Wendell Bowen, David Clements, and Kristina Napolitano; four great-grandchildren, Christopher Clements, Erick Clements, Cheyenne Bowen, and Gracie Bowen; and many nieces, nephews, family and friends.

She was preceded in death by her father, one brother, Elbert Emmett Raiburn, and three sisters, Vivian Eugene Campbell, Nelda Darlene Jeffcoat, and Ella Joann Raiburn.

Funeral services for Mrs. Bowen were at 2:00 PM, Saturday, April 16, 2005. Burial was in the Addington Cemetery under the direction of Dudley Funeral Home of Waurika.
