Carl Dean O’Hair, 86, passed away Wednesday, August 28, 2019, at the Comanche County Hospital in Coldwater, KS. Born December 17, 1932, in Coats, KS, he was the son of Carl H. and Phebe M. (Cozens) O’Hair.

Carl was a long-time resident of Coldwater, KS, previously living in Bern, KS and Bazine, KS. He attended Coats Schools in Coats, KS, graduated from Scott City High School in 1950, and received a Bachelor’s Degree in Social Science from Fort Hays State University. He was a veteran, serving in the U.S. Army from 1954-1957.

Carl was a teacher and coach in Bazine, KS, the high school principal in Bern, KS, and a teacher and coach in Coldwater, KS for many years. He also owned and operated J & C Cleaning in Coldwater, KS. He was a member of Fort Hays State Alumni Association and K.N.E.A. Carl enjoyed fishing, bowling, gardening, and golf.

On April 5, 1980, he married Jeanette Peck at Coldwater, KS. She survives.

He is survived by his wife: Jeanette O’Hair of Coldwater, KS; two sons: Craig O’Hair and his wife Brittany of Coldwater, KS and Aaron O’Hair of Coldwater, KS; one grandchild: Rylee O’Hair of Coldwater, KS; a foster daughter: Rene Bumgarner and her son, Austin Compton of Fayetteville, AR; two sisters: Beverly Strickert of Independence, MO and Kay Rickard of Lindsborg, KS; and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, one brother: Don O’Hair and wife Mildred; one nephew: David O'Hair; and one niece: Donna Kay Strickert.

Calling times are from 1:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., Friday, August 30, 2019 (Family Will Greet Friends From 5-7 p.m.) at Hatfield-Prusa Funeral Home, Coldwater, KS.

Funeral service is at 2:00 p.m., Saturday, August 31, 2019, at the First Christian Church in Coldwater, KS, with Pastor Caleb Palmer presiding.

Burial will follow the funeral service at Crown Hill Cemetery in Coldwater, KS, with full military honors.

In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to Comanche County Hospital or Comanche County E.M.S. in care of Hatfield-Prusa Funeral Home, P.O. Box 417, Coldwater, KS 67029.
