Mason Porter Walker returned to our Heavenly Father on October 3, 2015. His last adventure was hunting with his sons.
Mason was born in Los Angeles, CA to Dorothy Walker and William Mason Walker on July 17, 1941. He served an LDS mission to Canada. Upon his return, he graduated from BYU and was employed as a civil engineer at the Tooele Army Depot. Mason grew up in Pine Canyon, Utah, where he later returned to raise his own family. He taught his children the value of hard work through example and his enjoyment of farming.
Mason had a love for the outdoors and enjoyed hunting and fishing with his family. He was a master craftsman in woodwork and created many beautiful pieces of furniture. Mason was a champion horseshoe player and traveled the country participating in tournaments, achieving #1 in singles and #1 in doubles with his wife, Nancy, in the State of Utah. He loved the gospel of Jesus Christ and left this life on that path. We will miss our husband, father, grandfather, brother and friend.
Mason was preceded in death by his parents, Dorothy Walker Alberico and William Mason Walker. Mason is survived by his wife, Nancy Shaffer Walker; his children, Jami Young (John), Rhonda Carlson, Julie Farley, Wendy Christopherson (Brad), David Walker (Carmen), Ryan Walker (Ashley); his siblings, Gary Walker (Jan), Carol Johnson, and Kevin Walker; his stepchildren, Steve Crabtree, Kim Mettmann (Lee), Rick Crabtree (Nikki), Scott Crabtree (Lisa), and Stacey Schmerse (Derrick).
Funeral services will be held on Thursday, October 8, 2015 at 11 a.m. at the LDS Chapel located at 1160 East Vine Street, Murray, UT, with viewings at the church Wednesday, October 7, 2015 from 6-8 p.m. and Thursday from 9:30-10:30 a.m. prior to the services.
