Mrs. Sarah Swartz, oldest daughter of Rev. and Mrs. C. Kring, was born in Franklin county, Ohio, June 25, 1837, and resided at the place of her birth until grown. While but a child, she attended a revival meeting and was converted and united with the Evangelical association. She was united in marriage to Rev. Simeon Swartz of the Evangelical Association, October 2, 1856. To this union was born six sons and two daughters, of whom five sons and two daughters are still living. She faithfully performed the duties of a pastor's wife, first in Ohio, then in Illinois and later in Kansas. In 1874 she immigrated with her husband, to Rice county, Ks., where they became affiliated with the M.E. church, in 1879. In this connection of the church of God, she remained a faithful member, ever growing in the usefulness of his vinyard until her death.
They resided in Rice county, Ks., until 1894, when they came to Woods county, Okla., from whence she departed this life at her home near Meno on February 17, 1911, aged 73 years, 7 months and 22 days.
The funeral service was held in the Concord M.E. church on Sunday, February 19, 1911, conducted by G.A. Strouse, pastor at Wakita, Okla., assisted by F.D. Camp, pastor at Salt Fork, Okla., both being former pastors of Mrs. Swartz. Interment was in Concord cemetery.
