School Master Joseph Allen "was buried in the cemetery near Harrisburg, among those brought there from the old burrying ground in the city...." His will was dated 4 Jul 1812 and he left his nephew David Allen his books and manuscript. It lists the grave inscription below. He ran his own school and taught Thomas Elder, who later became an attorney and was the 11th Attorney General for Pennsylvania.
