Married to Virginia Pauline (Coleman) Carlisle. Father of sons Kenneth L., David M., Neil R. and Russell E.and daughters Carolyn V. and Mary F. (Carlisle) West.

He was raised in East Cobb County, Georgia and later lived out his life in Roswell, Fulton County, Georgia.

He followed the carpentry and building trades most of his life. During the Great Depression he worked for the Civilian Conservation Corps #4496, Park Loyston, TN, commanded by 1st Lt. William J. Green of the 326th Army Infantry Command during 1935. Later employed at Bell Bomber Plant, now Locheed-Martin, building materials for World War II. After the war he and his new family moved to Roswell, GA. He spent about a year building wooden boats for King's Camp at Lake Allatoona in Kennesaw, GA in the late 1940's. He became a door, window and cabinet maker throughout the 1950's and early 1960's. Later he transitioned to home building and construction management.

Lee loved the Lake Sydney Lanier, his weekend retreat. He purchased lots on the lake before there was water in 1956. He and his family and friends built a lake house known as "The Cabin" which was completed during the middle 1960's. He always enjoyed fishing, boating and water sports entertainment for the family. His longest travel from home was a fishing and pleasure trip with his wife and a client/friend L.A. "Doc" Mosher that had a home and boat in Key West, FL.

He acheived the level of Master at the Masonic Lodge in Roswell, GA. He was famous for his Brunswick Stew cooked during the yearly Masonic Lodge BBQ Fundraiser during Youth Day festivities.
