Of Newark passed away unexpectedly on Monday, September 10, 2007, at home, at the age of 71. Bob was born and raised in Patrick County, VA, the son of the late Roy and Alice Cassell and has made Newark his home for the past 43 years. Bob served his country proudly as a member of the US Air Force. Bob worked in the parts department for the Chrysler plant in Newark retiring in 1997. He was a member of Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 475 of Newark and Moose Lodge 1578 of New Castle. Bob was a NASCAR fan and he enjoyed billiards and fiddlers bluegrass music. His beloved wife Joyce passed away May 11, 2006. Bob will be sadly missed by his sons, Robert L. Cassell, Jr. of Highlands Ranch, CO, Kenneth W. Cassell of Lexington, NC, Ronald A. Cassell of Bassett, VA and step-son Grady Rathbone of Magnolia, DE; his daughters Marian C. Ramsey of Bassett, VA and Karla Barker of Bassett, VA; his sisters Martha Robertson, Barbara Blankenship, Jerolene LaRue, all of Bassett, VA, and Maggie Mitchell of Martinsville, VA; his brothers Roy Cassell, Jr. of Bassett, VA and John Cassell of Ridgeway, VA; 11 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren. Bob was predeceased by brothers Paul Cassell and Frank H. "Pete" Cassell. Family and friends are invited to join Bob's family in the Celebration of his Life and visitation on Saturday, September 15, 2007 from 1 to 2 pm at BEESON FUNERAL HOME OF NEWARK, 2053 Pulaski Highway, Newark, DE 19702, (302)453-1900 where his funeral service will be at 2 pm. You are also invited to attend the committal service on Monday, September 17, in the chapel of Delaware Veterans Memorial Cemetery at 1 pm.
