Pieter Noorman was born 28 Oct 1895 at Den Andel gem Baflo to Haije "Hie" and Katharina "Katherine" (Noorman) Noorman. His family emigrated about 1900. At age 14, Peter was working as a hired man on the Frank Melendy farm in York, Carroll County, Illinois. He married Miss Willemke "Winnie" Kremer the daughter of Ralph and Jennie (Muller) Kramer. Their marriage took place at Fulton, IL, in 1920. Their marriage was blessed with one known child: Llewellyn Gene "Lew" Norman.

Peter was a member of the Brotherhood of Railroad Carmen of America having worked for the Chicago-Northwestern Railroad for 40 years.

According to the obituary published in the Quad-City Times 1981-07-03, pg 6, survivors include his wife; a son, Llewellyn, Racine, Wis.; one grandchild; and sisters, Kate Pannell, Mrs. Tim (Alice) Decker, Gertrude Wessels, and Mrs. Howard (Anna) Shear, all of Fulton.
