Frances Baker was a friend of my mother, Pat Schehrer. She and her husband, Frank, lived at Village Ford Farm on the banks of Spring River near Devil's Promenade. She was an avid reader and wrote articles for the "Miami News Record" and other area papers. Frances, Pat Schehrer, Iva Simpson, Eleana Oliphant, Micke Greer, and several others were members of a writer's club and they wrote magazine articles in addition to newspaper articles. Frances wrote many articles about her childhood in the mining towns and about happenings in the Ottawa County area. Frances and "Gummy" Baker raised several children in a wonderful old two story farmhouse called Village Ford Farm. Frances was a very friendly and wonderful person to be around and was one of my mother's best friends.
