Hill City -- Virgil A. Schulte, 79, died Sept. 9, 2007, at the Hays Medical Center, Hays. He was born Oct. 18, 1927, in Victoria, the son of Anton and Katherine Schrant Schulte.

He was a longtime resident of Hill City, he was an Insurance and Real Estate Agent. He was a member of the Catholic Church.

On April 20, 1948, he married Laverne M. Brown, in Vincent. She survives.

Other survivors include: one son, Keith, Hill City; seven daughters, Marcia Ashmore, Syracuse, Connie Walz, Nevis, Minn., Janet Payne, St. Charles, Ill., Janice Perkowski, Hill City, Linda Toll, Logan, Dianna Gatz, Colby, Jacqueline Schulte, Selden; one sister, Bernice Rohleder, Victoria; 17 grandchildren and 20 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, one infant daughter, Mary, one son, Mike; two brothers and two sisters.

Vigil rosary will be 7:30 p.m. Tuesday at the Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church. Funeral service will be held at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at the Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church, Hill City, with the Rev. Donald McCarthy presiding. Visitation will be from 2 to 5:30 p.m. Tuesday at the Stinemetz Funeral Home and also at the Church on Wednesday morning from 9 to 10:30 a.m. Burial will be in the Memorial Lawn Cemetery, Hill City.

Memorials may be sent to Masses, Dawson Place Nursing Home or DSNWK all in care of Stinemetz Funeral Home.
